Now in its second year, Civic in Concert returns with the powerful musical CHESS. A remarkable cast of Civic volunteer actors join forces with a full professional orchestra for this concert presentation of the acclaimed show. As a key fundraiser for Civic Theatre, Civic in Concert also invites our community to experience something beyond our usual productions, where collaboration, music, and passion take center stage.

Book by Richard Nelson
Lyrics by Tim Rice
Music by Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson

Directed by Michael J. Lasley
Music Directed and Conducted by Brent E. Marty

In this groundbreaking rock musical, the ancient game becomes a metaphor for romantic rivalries, competitive gamesmanship, super-power politics, and international intrigue. From Bangkok to Budapest, the players, lovers, politicians and spies manipulate and are manipulated to the pulse of a monumental score that includes “One Night in Bangkok” and “Heaven Help My Heart.” (Concord Theatricals)

Join us for an unforgettable evening of music, storytelling, and community spirit as we celebrate Civic Theatre's 111 year old history. Your attendance and support will help us continue to bring diverse and inspiring performances and education opportunities to our audiences. Don't miss this unique opportunity to experience a classic in a fresh and compelling format.

We extend our sincere thanks to REI Real Estate Services for their generous sponsorship of Civic in Concert: CHESS. Civic also thanks Sophisticated Living Magazine for their ongoing fundraiser support.
