SneakView

ABOUT SNEAKVIEW

Civic Theatre has been providing free access to professionally directed theatre to seniors for over thirty years through SneakView, which opens the final dress rehearsal of each mainstage performance to residents of social service organizations, primarily low-income retirement facilities. This opportunity provides a complete theatre experience, enhanced by an educational pre-show question and answer session with the show’s directors and designers. This “Curtain Talk” illuminates the production’s connections to history, current events, and literature, and is often cited as the highlight of the SneakView experience.

SneakView provides over 2,500 seats during the mainstage season, with additional opportunities to attend the annual youth productions by Jr. Civic and the Young Artists Program. With opportunities to attend a total of seven different productions each year, Civic encourages sustained participation among groups to increase the positive effects on senior health through cultural activities. Annual SneakView attendance at the Tarkington reaches approximately 3,000 and over 90% of attendees are seniors.
